Overview

Midas is a coding agent you run in your terminal. It reads your codebase, edits files, runs commands, and calls the tools you connect. Nothing about how you work changes. It runs one automatic picker that uses the minimum viable model to complete each task perfectly, and the coding agent is built to get more out of every model. It learns how you work and builds skills in the background, so it gets sharper over time.

Get started

Install Midas with one command:

macOS and Linux

Runs inside WSL on Windows too.

Windows

Coming soon

It installs to ~/.midas/bin, needs no sudo, and writes nothing outside your home directory. Open a terminal in a project and run midas. The first run asks you to log in. Quickstart takes you from there to a committed change.

What you can do

Work on your codebase

Describe the change in plain language. Midas reads the files it needs, plans the edit, changes them across the project, runs the commands to check itself, and shows you the diff.

Take the tedious work off your desk

Tests for code that has none. Lint errors across a repo. A dependency bump. A merge conflict. Release notes. Point Midas at the job and let it finish.

Commit and open pull requests

Midas works with git directly. It stages changes, writes the message, cuts the branch, and opens the pull request.

Bring your own tools with MCP

A Model Context Protocol server puts another tool inside the session: an issue tracker, a docs folder, a design file, an internal API. Add the server and its tools appear.

Shape how it works

AGENTS.md gives Midas standing instructions for a project. A skill turns a repeatable workflow into a slash command your team can share. Memory keeps what it learned between sessions, with nothing for you to write down.

Run several agents at once

Midas ships with a build agent that has full access, a read-only planner, and a general agent for parallel work. Add your own beside them, and let a lead agent hand parts of a task to the others.

Script it like any other Unix tool

One-shot a task and print the result. Pipe a log in. Run it in CI. Midas is a normal command-line program, so it composes with the rest of your tools.

See where every token goes

Midas reports the cost of every session and what it spent. It runs one automatic picker, and the coding agent is built to get the most out of every model, so you never pay for more model than the work needs.

Command reference

Every part of Midas is reachable from the command line.

  • midasStart the terminal UI in the current project.
  • midas run "..."Run a one-off task and print the result.
  • midas agentList or create agents.
  • midas mcpAdd, list, and authenticate MCP servers.
  • midas pluginInstall a plugin.
  • midas syncImport instructions, skills, and memory written for other coding agents.
  • midas sessionList or delete sessions.
  • midas statsShow token usage and cost.
  • midas relayTurn on remote control for a session.
  • midas webStart the server and open the web interface.
  • midas upgradeUpgrade to the latest version.
  • midas uninstallRemove Midas and its files.

Configuration

Midas reads an AGENTS.md in your project, and one in ~/.config/midas/ that applies to every project, as standing instructions. It reads them the way you would brief a teammate. Settings and the folders for agents, commands, skills, and plugins sit beside it:

midas.json project settings
.midas/ project agents, commands, skills, plugins
~/.config/midas/ global settings and the same folders
AGENTS.md instructions Midas reads every session

Run midas debug paths to print where Midas keeps its data, config, state, and cache.
