FAQ
Questions people ask before they install Midas. If yours is not here, the overview and quickstart go deeper.
What is Midas?
Midas is a state-of-the-art coding agent. It turns what you ask for into production-ready code, infrastructure, and automations, for a fraction of what other coding agents cost.
What can Midas do?
Midas writes and edits code across your repo, runs commands and tests, commits and opens pull requests, and connects to your own tools through MCP. Code, infrastructure, and automations, scripted like any other Unix tool.
What do I need to run it?
One command. It installs to ~/.midas/bin, needs no sudo, and runs on macOS and Linux. Nothing to configure before your first session.
Do I have to change how I work?
No. Midas runs in your terminal like any other coding agent. Bring your AGENTS.md, skills, and memory, or run midas sync to pull in what you already wrote for other agents.
Do I choose the model?
No. You never pick a model, and you never think about one. Midas runs a single automatic picker, and the coding agent is built to push every model past what it can do on its own.
Does it get better over time?
Yes. Midas learns how you work and builds skills in the background as you go, so it gets sharper the longer you use it.
Do you train on my code?
No. Midas runs on zero data retention. Your code and prompts are not stored and not used for training.
How much does it cost?
Most people spend about 80% less than they do on other coding agents, with the same quality or better. The coding agent is why. It is built to get more out of every model instead of reaching for a bigger one.
